  1. 1

    Join the same Wi-Fi

The phone and the other device must be on the same local network. Home-View refuses public addresses.

  2. 2

    Start Home-View

Open Home-View from Studio and tap Start. A QR code and an address appear.

  3. 3

Open the address in a browser

Scan the QR code with the laptop or tablet camera, or type the shown address into any browser.

  4. 4

    Approve the device

The phone asks to approve the new device. Approve it, and mark it trusted to skip the QR code next time.

  5. 5

    Choose what is visible

Toggles control whether hidden collections, biometric collections and people are included. All are off by default.

  6. 6

    Stop when done

Tap Stop, or let the session end on its own when Wi-Fi drops, the battery runs low or the timer expires.

Trusted devices

Settings → Trusted devices lists every approved device. Revoke one or all at any time.

Troubleshooting

If the browser cannot connect, confirm both devices are on the same network and that the network does not isolate clients, which some guest networks do. The first start downloads the small web viewer bundle once, so an internet connection is needed for that step only.

Home-View is a Premium feature. Background on how it works is in the post Home-View: see your phone’s photos on your laptop.
