Full-text search plus browsing by label, color, camera and code.

Search in Pixel Gallery is a single box that reaches every piece of metadata the on-device pipeline has produced. Discover is the browsing counterpart: the same data, arranged so you can wander through it.

Search

Type anything: a word from a sign in the photo, a caption fragment, a label like “pasta”, a city, a camera model, a file name. The index combines classic full-text ranking with semantic search when that model is installed, and merges duplicate hits so a burst does not fill the results.

A strictness setting decides how forgiving matching is, and the app handles queries in multiple scripts, so Japanese or Devanagari text found by OCR is searchable in its own script.

Quick filters

Nineteen quick filters cover the searches people run most, without typing: favorites, videos, GIFs, screenshots, documents, has text, has code, selfies, has faces, no people, has location, has caption, not in a collection, wide shots, tall shots, short clips, long videos, AI content and RAW. Three more filter by your own annotations: has description, has reminder, and sensitive.

Saved searches

Any query plus filter combination can be saved as a smart folder that updates as your library changes. Saved searches also appear as launcher shortcuts.

Discover

Discover groups the library by what the pipeline found:

• Labels: every tag ML Kit assigned, from animals to vehicles.
• Colors: dominant palettes, so you can pull up every teal photo you own.
• Codes: every QR code and barcode found in a photo, decoded and ready to open.
• Cameras: photos by make and model, useful when several devices feed one library.
• Moments: automatic time-period groupings.

Shortcuts

Long-press the app icon and you get generated shortcuts to favorites, folders, collections, people, labels, moments, places, colors, cameras, countries, codes, documents and your saved searches.
